The Apostolic Nuncio to Malta pays official visit to Id-Dar tal-Providenza.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Malta, H.G. Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-Fai SDB, paid his first official visit to Id-Dar tal-Providenza and where he was welcomed by Fr Martin Micallef, Director, and Mrs Nadine Camilleri Cassano, Administrator of the Home.

He had the opportunity to meet up with a number of residents and support workers of the Home. The Apostolic Nuncio said it was a great joy for him to visit Id-Dar tal-Providenza and meet with the people who live there and had words of praise for the work done by the Home with persons with disability but above all the closeness of the living God felt in this place.

In his address of welcome, Fr Martin spoke on about the early days of the Home and the growth that took place since 1965 and more so since 1968 when the first three residents were welcomed to the Siġġiewi Home. He made a reference to the 50th anniversary celebrations that included a meeting with Pope Francis at the Santa Martha residence at the Vatican. He gladly shook hands with the whole group that, apart from the residents, included the support workers, Archbishop Scicluna and Archbishop Emeritus Cremona as well as other employees and volunteers. Fr Martin asked the Nuncio to convey to His Holiness the love, affection and prayers of all at Id-Dar tal-Providenza.

During his visit, the Nuncio was taken around the chapel, Dun Mikiel’s museum and grave, the therapeutic pool, the St. Isidore Agriculture Centre, the multisensory rooms, the kitchen and laundry. He also found time to char with some of the employees about the work they do.
