Fly A Kite For Charity raises €5,355 for Id-Dar tal-Providenza
A “Fly A Kite For Charity” activity held on June 29th in Żurrieq raised €5,355.88 for Id-Dar tal-Providenza and was presented to Fr Martin Micallef, Director of the Home, during the Volleyball Marathon that was organised during the first weekend of July.
The organizing committee, made up of Mr. Raymond Schembri, Chev. Lawrence Collins, Ms. Josephine Zammit and Mr. Annetto Camilleri, all hailing from Żurrieq, was instrumental behind the “Fly A Kite For Charity” which is unique to the Maltese islands. This activity took place at Ġnien il-Ġibjun in Żurrieq and although the main attraction was the original Maltese kite, it also managed to unite the whole village together to contribute in some way or another to Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
The amount raised also included sale of kites, cakes, books and knitted objects. The Organizing Committee thanks all those who contributed for this activity, all the sponsors who supplied everything required to avoid any expenses, the Archpriest of Żurrieq, Fr Karm Mercieca, and last but not least all the people of Żurrieq for their support and encouragement.
