Commemorative plaque inaugurated in Floriana street where Dun Mikel Azzopardi lived

Fr Martin Micallef inaugurated a commemorative plaque in Floriana street, Triq il-Miratur, where Dun Mikiel Azzopardi once lived and where he was given the first one hundred pound donation that turned his Dar tal-Providenza dream into a reality.

This was an initiative by the Vilhena Philharmonic Society with the support of the Floriana Local Council and other benefactors is one of various activities planned for this year commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Id-Dar tal-Providenza by Dun Mikiel on 12th September 1965.

The next activity is on Thursday 30th April when the Siġġiewi Local Council will be organising a forum about Dun Mikiel and the 50 years of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. During the forum, which starts at 7.00pm at the Council’s offices, persons who were somehow close to Dun Mikiel will share their various experiences. The forum is open to the general public
