Chinese persons with disabilities to sing in Malta.

Two famous Chinese singers, Chang Xinan and Xue Kong Lingzhen who are wheelchair users, are in Malta to take part in a concert organised by Id-Dar tal-Providenza and the Malta-China Friendship Society, in aid of the Siġġiewi Home. This will take place on Friday 6th November at 7 p.m. at the Sr Nemesia Valle Hall, Immaculate Conception School in Tarxien. The two singers and their two carers are staying at Id-Dar tal-Providenza.

Chang Xinan and Xue Kong Lingzhen form part of a group of 12 Chinese artists and philanthropist from the Beijing Soul Inspiring Art Troupe led by Na Yuan, a famous Chinese artist. She visited Malta five times at the invitation of the Malta-China Friendship Society and met former Presidents, the late Prof Guido De Marco, Dr Eddie Fenech Adami and Dr George Abela.

Today (Wednesday) the whole group met the current President, H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, and presented her with a number of paintings that will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to the Malta Community Chest Fund. Earlier, another presentation of paintings was made to Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, who said that these will also be auctioned off as part of Festa ta’ Ġenerożità that takes place on New Year’s Day.

The singers were invited to Malta by the President of the Malta-China Friendship Society, former Minister Reno Calleja, who met them during his last visit to Beijing last month. Mr Calleja intends to raise enough money to bring the whole Art Troupe to Malta to take part in next year’s l-Istrina and the Dar tal-Providenza’s Festa ta’ Ġenerożità.

The Beijing Soul Inspiring Art Troupe is made up of forty kids, who although hard of hearing and use the sign language are great dancers.
