BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of id-Dar tal-Providenza 2016

78 persons have applied and started the training sessions related to the selection phase of this year’s edition of the BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The youngest participant is 15 years old while the eldest is 51 years old.

The first phase includes 4 sessions and a 12 hour trial, while the second phase will include 5 training sessions and a 24 hour trial. Following this phase there will be the selection of the 40 participants who will be taking part in this year’s edition.

Fr. Martin Micallef, the Director of Dar tal-Providenza, explained the importance of the Volleyball Marathon in view of the fact that it helps in generating the needed funds for the professional running of id-Dar Tal-Providenza, the promotion of volunteering through sport and the celebrative environment for the residents.
Mr Emanuel Zammit, Chairpoerson of the Organising Committee, said that the volunteering element is crucial in every aspect of the marathon, whether logistics, organisaitonal or from a sport point of view.

Mr Silvan Gauci, the Technical Director of the Marathon explained that this year, apart from the fact that there are a number of players who have already took part in previous editions, there was interest and participation from a number of new people to the marathon. He explained that the final choice will be carried on both a technical and also a disciplinary assessment.

This year’s edition of the BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Dar tal-Providenza will be held on the 1st ,2nd and 3rd July at the grounds of the residence L/O Siggiewi.
