Bishop Emeritus, Mgr Paul Darmanin pays visit to Id-Dar tal-Providenza

“As soon as you step in the grounds of Id-Dar tal-Providenza you feel a different atmosphere. You feel that here there is true attention, true care and true love. Here, love is shared with one another really and truly as a family.” This was a comment made by H.E. Mgr Paul Darmanin OFM.Cap, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Garissa in Kenya when he visited id-Dar tal-Providenza on Wednesday, 6th July. He was met by Fr Martin Micallef, Director of the Home together with a group of residents.

At the start of his visit he celebrated the Holy Eucharist. In a short speech he shared his joy in visiting this Home for the very first time where he could share for a little while the life of those who lived and worked in the Siġġiewi Home. He stressed that the work done here was not just for someone in particular because life at the Home is more that of a family.

Following the Mass, Bishop Darmanin met up with the residents of Id-Dar tal-Providenza and prayed on the grave of Dun Mikiel Azzopardi. He found time to see the work progressing on the therapeutic pool that will be functioning later this year, saw the multisensory rooms and talked with the residents working at the St Isidor Agricultural Centre.
