Exhibition of Works of art at the foyer of Parliament Buildings

The works of art generously donated by a good number of Maltese and foreign artists is now open to the public at the foyer of our Parliament buildings in Valletta. The exhibition, which has around 130 pieces between paintings, sculptures and ceramics, will remain open till Monday, 26th December when it will be moved to the main hall at Id-Dar tal-Providenza to be auctioned off on January 1st. Last January the proceeds from the auction amounted to a record €35,000.

The exhibition was officially opened by Deputy Speaker, the Hon. Ċensu Galea who made reference to the vision of the the Home’s founder, Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi that showed the way for all Maltese to love and respect persons with disability.

Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked all the artists who have so generously donated their works of art, the Speaker of the House, Dr Anġlu Farrugia who had expressed his desire to have the exhibition held again at the Parliament buildings and the Deputy Speaker, Ċensu Galea who officially opened it. Fr Martin also thanked Eng Karl Camilleri, the coordinator of the auction and his team, Mrs Jackie Micallef who spent these last few weeks contacting the artists, Mr Stephen Barbara who is reponsible for the auction’s electronic site, Mrs Nadine Camilleri Cassano, Administrator of the Home as well as Mr Tonio Bonello and Mrs Cynthia Zerafa on behalf of Radio RTK. He also thanked Mr Pierre Grech Pillow and Mr John Zahra of Obelisk Auctioneers & Valuers, Mr Louis Zaffarese of Zaffarese Signs & Display Ltd and Mr Owen Sammut who services the auction’s website.

The public may also view the works of art by visiting the auction’s electronic site www.dtpauction.com and once registered may also be able to bid online. Those not using the online bidding process, on January 1st, the day of the auction, may call on the telephone numbers superimposed on the TV screeens during the broadcast of the Feast of Generosity. One may also do this personally by visiting the exhibits’ hall at Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
