Inauguration of refurbished recreational and educational hall for residents of Id-Dar tal-Providenza
“The Marigold Foundation wants to continue to help in giving the residents of Id-Dar tal-Providenza a better quality of life. It wants to help financially in areas and projects that the generous support throughout the year by the Maltese people will not be able to undertake because of other priorities.” This was said by Mrs Michelle Muscat, Chairperson of the Marigold Foundation BOV in the Community during the inauguration ceremony of the refurbished hall at the Siġġiewi Home.
Since 1974, when Villa Papa Giovanni was built, this hall has always been used and is still being used for various recreational and educational activities for residents of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The Episcopal Vicar for Diaconia, Mgr Charles Cordina blessed the hall and the residents and their carers that use it and praised the work that is done in the Home that gives the deserved respect and dignity to its residents.
Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked Mrs Muscat for the financial support by the Marigold Foundation for the much needed refurbishment to be done to the hall. He spoke about the works that consisted of an extension to the existing stage, a new air-conditioning system, the installation of a new sound and lighting system as well as new curtains for the stage and the hall itself.
As part of the programme, residents took part in a dance presentation led by Mrs Sara Doublesin, the Home’s Dance Therapist.
