President Emeritus, Dr Eddie Fenech Adami presented cheque for €45,000 to Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The sum represents the revenue from the sales of the autobiography “EDDIE – My Journey” that hit the bookstalls in February of last year. Earlier Dr Fenech Adami accompanied by members of his family attended a thanksgiving Mass in the chapel of Id-Dar tal-Providenza on the occasion of his 81st birthday on February 7th.
Dr Fenech Adami thanked Steve Mallia,editor-in-chief of the Times of Mata, for providing tremendous help and support for the publication of this autobiography that provided an opportunity for worthwhile funds to go to Id-Dar tal-Providenza. On his part Fr Martin praised this initiative which is another show of solidarity from Dr Fenech Adami who was always a regular visitor and supporter of the Home. He mentioned that right after his swearing-in as Prime Minister after the 1987 general elections, Dr Fenech Adam’s first official act was to sign a deed allowing Dun Mikiel to be buried in the Home’s grounds as he had so wished. Steve Mallia said total revenues from the sale of the publication amounted to €50,000. Id-Dar tal-Providenza benefited of €45,000 whilst the Joseph Calleja Foundation was given €5,000.
When the publication was launched, Dr Fenech Adami had announced that all revenues from the sale of his autobiography will be going to Id-Dar tal-Providenza. “EDDIE – My Journey” was published by Allied Publications.
